Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 December 2025
At The Nineteenth, we believe your data belongs to you. We built this app with privacy at its core—no social login requirements, no data selling, and no unnecessary tracking. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.
The short version: We collect only what we need to run your competitions, we never sell your data, and we store everything securely in Australia.
Information We Collect
We collect the minimum information necessary to provide you with a great golf competition experience.
Information you provide
- Account information: Email address and password when you create an account. No social login required—your golf shouldn't depend on Facebook.
- Profile details: Your name and golf handicap (optional but helpful for competitions).
- Competition data: Competition names, dates, player lists, scores, and results you enter into the app.
- Contact enquiries: Any information you provide when contacting us for support.
Information collected automatically
- Device information: Device type and operating system version to ensure the app works properly on your device.
- App usage: General usage patterns (e.g., which features are popular) to help us improve the app. This is aggregated and anonymised.
What we don't collect
- Location data (we don't track where you play)
- Contact lists from your phone
- Social media profiles
- Payment card details (handled securely by our payment processor)
How We Use Your Information
We use your information for these purposes only:
- Running competitions: Creating competitions, generating pairings, calculating scores, and displaying leaderboards.
- Account management: Authenticating your login and managing your subscription.
- Communication: Sending essential emails about your account, competitions you're part of, and service updates.
- Product improvement: Understanding how people use the app so we can make it better (using anonymised, aggregated data).
- Support: Responding to your questions and helping resolve issues.
We will never use your data for targeted advertising or sell it to third parties. Full stop.
Data Storage & Security
Australian data sovereignty
Your data is stored on servers located in Australia. We believe in keeping Australian data in Australia, subject to Australian privacy laws.
Security measures
- All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using TLS
- Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms—we never store them in plain text
- We use secure, reputable cloud infrastructure providers
- Regular security reviews and updates
- Access to user data is restricted to authorised personnel only
Offline data
When you score offline, data is stored securely on your device until it can sync. This local data is protected by your device's own security (passcode, Face ID, etc.).
Third-Party Services
We use a small number of trusted third-party services to operate The Nineteenth:
- Plausible Analytics: For privacy-focused website analytics. Plausible doesn't use cookies, doesn't track individuals, and doesn't collect personal data. It's GDPR compliant by design. Learn more about Plausible's privacy approach.
- Payment processing: We use secure payment processors who handle your payment details directly. We never see or store your full card number.
- Email delivery: To send you account-related emails and competition updates.
We carefully vet all third parties for their privacy and security practices before using them.
Your Rights
You have control over your data. You can:
- Access your data: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
- Correct your data: Update any inaccurate information in your profile.
- Delete your data: Request deletion of your account and all associated data. We'll remove it within 30 days (except where we're legally required to retain it).
